The simple answer is Hinge, the app thats meant to be deleted. They weren't lying about that part, but I believe our story is so much more than that.
Our first date was at Pollyanna Brewing Co. in Roselle, IL, a spot that Brennan chose himself. I was a bit hard to get to go on a date at first, which Brennan will happily remind me that I almost missed out on the best decision I have ever made, but Brennan's patience is still one of my favorite traits for that reason. We wouldn't be here without it!
That date location at the time was just a couple beers, a chance to get to know each other, and in between where we both lived. Now, it is ironically a whole lot more.
A few months into dating, and going to Pollyanna several more times, it dawned on me that the brewery was actually named after a book. They even have a beer named after the author, Elenor Porter, which is a porter named Elenor. Me, being the English nerd I am thought that was the coolest thing ever.
About a year and a half into dating we were in Colorado celebrating a close friends wedding. The night led us to this bar with bookshelves that lined each wall. We chose a table with some friends, and as I was taking a seat I noticed there was a very old red book above our friends head. On the binding, it said, "Pollyanna". I immediately jumped on top of the booth, grabbed the book, and inspected it. Once I flipped to the first page to read a little, the word a few spaces in read, "Harrington".
I was dumbfounded. Yes, we were already over a year in so knowing me I was already playfully threatening Brennan that death do us part already started, but the irony was insane. If that wasn't a sign that this was the man I will get to live life with forever, then what is? I shoved the book in my purse, although I do not condone stealing, and brought it home with us. The more I read and the more I learned about the novel I realized that Harrington is not only a family name in the book, but also the town in which the story took place.
Fast forward to a little over 3 and a half years into our relationship, and Brennan Harrington was down on one knee, at Pollyanna, asking me to become Mrs. Harrington. I obviously said yes, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this. Pure kismet!
